A primeira semana do Rock in Rio nao foi apenas de musica e diversao. Longas filas para comprar lanche, excesso de sujeira e problemas com a seguranca estiveram entre as maiores reclamacoes do publico. Os inumeros casos de furto trouxeram preocupacoes para os frequentadores do festival.

The concert, or the tour, or the notion, is called the Big Four, and it needs an asterisk. Long ago, one of the four became much bigger than the rest.

After raising hell in California earlier this spring, the heavy- metal summit called the Big Four, featuring headliner Metallica along with Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax, landed in Yankee Stadium last night for the ultimate headbangers ball.

Thrash metal giants Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer packed in the metalheads at Yankee Stadium yesterday, but the much-heralded Big 4 concert was dominated by the monster hits and crushing riffs of the one and only Metallica.

Over the course of his band's two-hour set to close out the Big 4 show at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night, Metallica frontman James Hetfield repeatedly asked the assembled crowd of over 41,000 headbangers, "Can you feel it?"

Last night the familiar pangs of 'Enter Sandman' echoed through the hallowed halls of Yankee Stadium. This time, however, Mariano Rivera didn't take the mound.

Truth be told, the crowd at Yankee Stadium last night didn't look all that different than a crowd at a Major League Baseball game normally might—lots of dudes in logo-ed t-shirts and caps, drinking beer, cheering lustily for the goings-on down below. There were also a few scattered chants about the suckiness of Boston and the Mets, just for good measure.

I honestly wasn't amped for the headliner, but I was pleasantly surprised. Don't get me wrong: I love Metallica, always have, but they weren't my sole reason for being there. Still, I was knocked out by the combination of tight video, perfect sound quality and showmanship.

The Big Four of thrash finally brought its spectacle to a major city in the United States this week, as Wednesday night Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth filled Yankee Stadium in New York with blistering guitar riffs, pyrotechnics that lit up the night sky and of course, thousands upon thousands of headbanging fans who traveled from far and wide to see the metal event of the year.

East coast fans finally had their chance to see "The Big 4" of thrash metal on Wednesday night, as Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax played at New York's new Yankee Stadium.
