Truth be told, the crowd at Yankee Stadium last night didn't look all that different than a crowd at a Major League Baseball game normally might—lots of dudes in logo-ed t-shirts and caps, drinking beer, cheering lustily for the goings-on down below. There were also a few scattered chants about the suckiness of Boston and the Mets, just for good measure.

I honestly wasn't amped for the headliner, but I was pleasantly surprised. Don't get me wrong: I love Metallica, always have, but they weren't my sole reason for being there. Still, I was knocked out by the combination of tight video, perfect sound quality and showmanship.

The Big Four of thrash finally brought its spectacle to a major city in the United States this week, as Wednesday night Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth filled Yankee Stadium in New York with blistering guitar riffs, pyrotechnics that lit up the night sky and of course, thousands upon thousands of headbanging fans who traveled from far and wide to see the metal event of the year.
